Whitlock Was Right: Patriots Should've Sat Brady

I’ve always thought Kansas City Star sports columnist Jason Whitlock was a freakin’ great writer—funny, honest to a fault, real.

But little did I know he could also predict the future.

A few days before the Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots home opener, Jason wrote the following:
Coach (Belichick), you should treat Sunday’s season opener like a fifth exhibition. Rest your starters, particularly Tom Brady.

You kept Brady and his ailing foot on the sideline during the entire preseason. It was a wise move. Who cares about the preseason? No one is concerned that the mighty Patriots lost all four of their exhibition games.

It doesn’t even matter that Matt Cassel, Brady’s backup, never led the Patriots to a touchdown in 17 exhibition offensive series.

And guess what today? Down goes Brady! Down goes Brady!

And Cassel leads the Patriots to an ugly victory over the Chiefs, 17 to 10.

Now, Brady’s season—and the Patriots’—is in jeopardy.

Maybe now people will listen to Kansas City largest—and best—sports prognosticator.
